The 1611th verse

As y'all know, there are all sorts of little number "coincidences" in the King James Bible.

You know, things like the middle two words being "the LORD", the number of verses being 31102 (digits add up to 7).

I do firmly believe the AV1611 is a perfect, God-endorsed book in and of itself.

I keep it as a text file on my computer, where is from where I routinely paste verses in my comments.

As a database exercise I imported the text into Oracle. My Oracle table has three sequence numbers, counting a verse's sequence at three different levels. seq_b is overall Bible, numbered from 1 to 31102; seq_k runs for each book; and then seq_c is the familiar verse number within a chapter.

I was tinkering with some interesting queries, and thought I might pull the middle verse. Actually with an even number, 31102, there are two middle verses. As most of you know, this comes out as Psalm 103:1-2. Notice the digits in this reference, 10312 is simply 31102 rearranged.

seq_b book cha seq_c seq_k text
15551 Psa 103 1 1611 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
15552 Psa 103 2 1612 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Notice now that Psalm 103:1 is the 1611th verse in the book of Psalms! In fact, considering the length of the Psalms, it is the only verse in the Bible where seq_k = 1611.

As I counted the words in the text I began to get excited. Psalm 103:1 has 16 words. I dared to think that verse 2 had 11 words, but alas it does have 12 words.

Incidentally, the 1611th verse in the Bible is Exodus 4:9;

9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

If you do not believe these two testaments (signs), then you are left behind to face the wrath of God, and part of that wrath is water into blood in Revelation, and the angel praises God that man is worthy of such judgment. (Rev 16:3-7)

If you multiply 1611 by 10, the Gentile number, the 16110th verse is Psalm 124:7;

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Rev 16:11 says;

11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

I know you can always make the numbers say something if you run enough math. But it is fun to see the connections with little more than just counting.

Forever a Bible believer,

Andrew

ps. Psalm 16 has 11 verses.
